Heated cabinets for microbiological cultures

  • Heating cabinets or incubators are used in microbiological research to cultivate cell material. But also in pharmaceutical industry or in the medical practice, incubators are used. The creation of a controlled atmosphere allows the use of heating cabinets for a wide variety of questions and test purposes. Whether for microbiological cultures, for growing animal-, plant- or insect cells or for standardized testing: Clitec offers a wide range of incubators from different manufacturers for professional use.

Areas of application for heating cabinets

Cell cultures are cultivated and incubated under defined conditions in microbiological- or in medicine research. In a nutrient liquid or on an agricultural soil, most bacterial cultures require temperatures of 37 degrees Celsius to grow optimally. The required constant ambient temperatures, continuous mixing of the preparations as well as the appropriate CO2 content can be realized with incubators.

    Areas of application for incubators:

    • Microbiological research
    • Medical practice
    • Industry (product manufacturing and testing)
    • Teaching purposes (schools and universities)

    microbiology

In research, for example, bacterial cultures are used for protein expression. Genes or plasmids are introduced into the bacterial cells. Under the controlled atmosphere in the incubators, the modified cells multiply and produce the recombinant protein as they grow. But not only bacteria can be transformed in this way. Viruses and yeasts can also be genetically manipulated with the purpose of studying the synthesis of proteins and their functions and interactions.

    medicine

Medical laboratories, on the other hand, use microbiological cultures to isolate and identify bacterial species out of sample material. The differentiation of the microorganisms is possible through selective culture media and incubation under defined conditions in heating cabinets. In the same way works the antibiotic resistance test, after the germ species has been successfully determined. Whether in a small practice or in large laboratories and research facilities, incubators are standard equipment in many application areas.

    Industry

In the industry, incubators as well as walk-in high-performance climate chambers are used for industrial purposes. In this, they offer, during the product development and later production phase, the possibility of maintaining constant climate conditions over a longer period of time. Standardized test procedures, such as drying or curing materials and components for example, are implemented in spacious heating cabinets or -chambers. These are adapted to the specific requirements of the test procedures. Furthermore, incubators can be used for aging testing or microbiological tests of medicaments.

    educational institutions

For teaching purposes, schools and other educational institutions have incubators for workbenches that can be put into operation as needed. Shaking- or CO2 heating cabinets are commonly used equipment during biological, chemical, pharmaceutical or medical education.

    Incubators – functionality and advantages

Cell cultures, whether cells from bacteria or animals, require specific environmental conditions to thrive optimally. First and foremost, this includes the right temperature. But oxygen- and carbon dioxide content or air humidity also play a role. With incubators, temperatures can be set and maintained precisely, and heating and cooling times can be programmed. With some product variants, you can additionally generate a CO2 atmosphere.

Most incubators are equipped with a shaker to ensure that cell growth in the culture is even. Temperature, incubation time and shaking frequency can be set and checked at any time via an intuitive color touch screen. Acoustic- and LED-signals reliably indicate deviations from the programmed parameters, so that you can identify faults or malfunctions at an early stage.

Create the perfect atmosphere for your experiment! Incubators are in many variants and volume sizes available. The spacious chambers with the removable levels make a variety of different experiments possible. So that the cabinets are easy to clean and disinfect after each use, they have an internal stainless steel lining.

Clitec heating chambers for research, industry and medical applications

Clitec offers high-quality heating cabinets for use in scientific laboratories, educational institutions, medical facilities or industry. Innovative technology ensures ease of use and maximum accuracy. Incubators can be realized in a wide range of variants: Select compact CO2 incubators for the workbench, space-saving and high-built cabinets on rollers or use your individually designed climate chamber.

    Heated cabinet variants at Clitec:

    • CO2 incubators
    • Laboratory drying cabinets
    • Vacuum drying cabinets
    • High-performance heating chambers

The CO2 incubators are geared towards cell cultivation processes. Cells or tissues can be reproducibly incubated under controlled conditions. In addition to the outer paneling, these cabinets have a separate inner door made of glass. This allows a visual inspection of the samples without they come into contact with the outside climate. Temperatures of up to 50 degrees Celsius and CO2 concentrations of up to 20 percent can be achieved with the CO2 incubators.

You can use the laboratory heating cabinets to heat materials that do not require a CO2 atmosphere. The cabinets are available with a chemical resistant coating. They reach temperatures of up to 125 or 300 degrees Celsius, depending on the product variant. Depending on your needs, choose the energy-saving heating cabinets with natural air circulation. Or select incubators with a forced air supply or cooling function to enable a more even temperature distribution and sample temperature control. Cabinets with cooling function deliver temperatures from -20 to 100 degrees Celsius.

The vacuum drying cabinets are the best solution for the safe drying and curing of sensitive substances or materials. Designed for industrial applications, they generate temperatures from five degrees Celsius above ambient temperature up to 250 degrees Celsius. They also have a supply line for the inert gas.
